Body Doubling as an art form

What is Word Choir?

Word Choir is an experimental co-working group focused on writing and the tasks we do to support the writing life.

We meet on Mondays and Thursdays, 9–11am EST on Zoom, to work alongside others in a quiet, supportive environment. People bring whatever supports their creative practice that day—writing, revision, emails, planning, scheduling, follow-through.

How does it work?

Word Choir is sliding scale $33-77/mo. We meet two times a week with a guest artist workshop every month and a monthly show and tell session. Open Study is not a therapeutic support group, but we do share big feelings. Open Study is focused on the work and the process of writing first and foremost.

This is for you if :

- Finding steady, energizing writing time is hard, and your own pages keep getting the leftovers.
- Writing alone gets loud fast — second-guessing, open tabs, the laundry siren — until the spark feels far away.
- You care about the work, but you’re disconnected from it; momentum slips and starting feels heavier every week.

The future I a dreaming of for you :

At first, a weekly rhythm settles in. You show up, you light a candle or make tea, open your doc, and the pages start to add up — without the usual drama.

Pretty quickly, projects start to move: chapters drafted, essays revised and submitted, residency/grant apps sent, artist statements and syllabi written, website copy tightened, newsletter drafts finished…

Even the text to your advisor — or your mom — that you’ve put off for weeks gets written here.

Each session ends with your next steps named and your nervous system calmer than when you entered.

And after a few months, you look around and realize: there’s a pile now. A chapbook, a pitch packet, a handful of poems, a drafty book — momentum you can actually measure.

Yes, please

“There’s something magical happening in this corner of the internet. No joke. If you’re looking for a dose of inspiration, accountability and community into your writing days, you’ve found your spot. Cody’s co-working space are a no-judgement creative landing pad, an iterative safe space. It’s about making shit happen side-by-side. Cody’s delightful consistency, transparency and vision is icing on the cake. ”

Word Choir isn’t magic, but it’s close

Truly, it’s amazing what a goofy theme song (that changes every week), a timer, and a chat full of wins makes possible.

I know - you might be thinking, “But Cody, I’ve already put my writing project off for so long. What if I fail here too?”

And ooph, I feel that, friend. But that’s also why Landscapes works: the bar to show up is low, the structure is gentle, and you’re never doing it alone. Even if you miss a week, the rhythm keeps holding you until you’re ready to step back in.

So yes, you could keep circling the page until “tomorrow” becomes “ten years from now” —

Or - you could log on with us this week.

Pour some tea, open a doc, and become the kind of writer who keeps going (no matter how long it’s been
